"Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) delivered a letter to social media leaders demanding the immediate removal of posts and accounts that celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk" is a good example of why social media conversations must NOT be concentrated in one legal jurisdiction (particularly, let's face it, Trump's US).
The letter was sent to the 6 "gentlemen" running Meta, YouTube, X, TikTok, Trump Media & Technology Group (as if) and... Bluesky Social PBC (CEO: Jay Graber, his/her), and mentioned that "I hold the gavel for the Federal Law Enforcement subcommittee ... my Chair has specific Congressional authority over Federal regulatory law enforcement. My Committee will be a leading force in the righteous endeavor to protect the legitimate free exchange of ideas and opinions, which requires the vigilant maintenance of appropriate behaviors within our publicly accessed social media".
A direct legal threat to all 6 companies, of which only Bluesky Social doesn't have the size to fight this.
